Travel Itinerary
09:00–11:30 - Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
The panda base is at its best in the morning, when the animals are active and feeding. Your guide leads you through the main enclosures, panda villas, and sub-adult viewing areas, explaining conservation milestones, breeding program science, and the base's rewilding initiatives. You'll have time to observe at a comfortable pace and choose the best photo angles. The electric sightseeing shuttle inside the park is included.
12:00–13:00 - Local Chengdu Lunch
Lunch is at a well-regarded local restaurant. Chengdu cuisine is famously bold and spicy, but your guide will communicate your heat preference in advance and help you order dishes that suit your palate — from mild aromatic options to the full numbing Sichuan experience if you're ready for it. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
13:30–15:00 - Teahouse Experience at People's Park
People's Park is one of Chengdu's great social institutions — a green, canopied space where residents gather daily to drink tea for hours at a stretch. Your guide arranges seats at a traditional covered-bowl teahouse inside the park, explains the gaiwan ritual and etiquette, then steps back to let you simply absorb the atmosphere. There is no compulsory spending beyond the included tea.
Custom option:
- Sichuan ear-cleaning (cai er) is a traditional service offered at some People's Park teahouses and is completely optional at your own cost.
15:20–16:40 - Kuan Zhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alley)
A restored network of Qing-dynasty courtyard lanes hosting local food vendors, craft shops, and cultural storefronts. Your guide introduces the history and architecture, then gives you free time to explore, try street snacks — Dragon Wonton, tanghulu candied fruit, or Sichuan spicy rabbit head — or browse for locally made souvenirs. The lanes are lively but navigable and genuinely photogenic.
Custom option:
- A short Sichuan opera face-changing (bian lian) performance can occasionally be arranged nearby in the evening.
