Travel Itinerary
8:00-9:30 - Hotel Departure & Transfer
Private vehicle pickup from your hotel in downtown Chengdu. The drive to Dujiangyan takes approximately 60–90 minutes. Your English-speaking guide will give a brief overview of the day during the transfer. Sit back and enjoy the Sichuan countryside as you leave the city.
09:30–11:30 - Dujiangyan Panda Valley
Arrival at Dujiangyan Panda Valley, a research and rewilding base affiliated with Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Unlike the busier downtown facility, Panda Valley is set in a forested hillside environment with far fewer crowds. Your guide will explain the science of panda conservation and rewilding efforts as you observe the pandas in a more natural setting.

12:00–13:00 - Local Chengdu Lunch
Lunch is at a well-regarded local restaurant. Chengdu cuisine is famously bold and spicy, but your guide will communicate your heat preference in advance and help you order dishes that suit your palate — from mild aromatic options to the full numbing Sichuan experience if you're ready for it. Vegetarian and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
13:30–16:00 - Dujiangyan Irrigation System
This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in 256 BCE and remains operational today. Your guide will walk you through the three key structures — Fish Mouth, Flying Sand Weir, and Bottle Neck — explaining how this dam-free system controls floodwater and irrigates over 500,000 hectares of farmland in the Chengdu Plain.

16:00–16:40 - South Bridge & Old Town Stroll
If time permits, you may take a leisurely stroll along Nanqiao Bridge or through the old town district next to the Dujiangyan Scenic Area to soak up the atmosphere of local life. Nanqiao Bridge is a classical-style covered bridge featuring exquisite painted decorations, with the Min River flowing beneath it.

17:00–18:00 - Return to Hotel
